After the first debate on Virgin, it seemed to me that Catherine Connolly was far and away the winner, yet the verdict of “commentators” was that there was no clear winner. The first opinion poll showed that Connolly was the clear winner in that debate and that this was the opinion of over 40% of those polled, as opposed to about 5% each for the other two. On The Week in Politics on Sunday, Catherine Connolly again emerged as the clear winner. Heather Humphreys blustered, and Jim Gavin imploded,. Once again according to the commentators, there was no clear winner. Even I could see that Gavin was gone at that stage. The latest debate was again a clear-cut win for Catherine Connolly, yet on Prime Time on RTE Television and on The Late Debate on RTE Radio One, it was described as a draw, with some “polling expert” maintaining that Humphreys had “possibly shaded it”. What the fuck is going on? Is this distortion someone’s idea of “balance” or are they just scared to tell the truth? |

It now appears Paul Murphy TD has sent Humphreys a solicitors letter demanding an apology for defaming him during one of the debates. It was clever of Murphy to have not issued legal proceeding’s immediately through the courts, because to do so would have prevented the media from discussing the matter and from asking Heather questions on the matter. Now they can, but the question big is – will they?
If the boot was on the other foot – and Connolly had questions to answer – it would receive wall to wall coverage and would dominate the headlines!
this is the dark state trying to influence an election in favour of their nomination.
If you are interested in uniting Ireland then would Heather Humphreys not be the obvious choice? The border poll will be decided by Alliance centrists who would warm more to her. SF is toxic to northern Protestants in the same way that the DUP is toxic to northern Catholics. Inconvenient truth perhaps but absolutely how it is.
Less an inconvenient truth than an ill informed statement,
Sinn Fein is not standing for election here. Catherine Connolly is. Humphreys wont call on the Dublin government to prepare for a border poll, nor will she call on unionists to discuss it. Connolly has and will.
